KMAland.com reports that trucks are continuing to dispose of bird waste from the avian flu into the Loess Hills Regional Landfill in Mills County, Iowa. Beginning in May, birds began to be deposited into the landfill. Within the past month, containers of equipment and cleaning supplies associated with the disposal have been transported to the landfill instead. Mills County Public Affairs Officer Shari Bowen states that the public has complained about the odors coming from the wastes. While the landfill implemented an odor reduction system last week, it is unclear if it will help to reduce the odor.
