The Indy Star is reporting that Residents in the South side of Indianapolis are tired of the smell of “rotten eggs and natural gas” that has encapsulated their neighborhood. Despite over 30 complaints made, leaders in Indianapolis have stated that the smell is not due to the smudge tanks nearby at Metalworking Lubricants Co. However, residents pointed out that prior to Super Bowl XLVI in 2012, deals were made with Metalworking Lubricants to suspend activities for seven days leading up to the televised event, to ensure a smell-free environment. Resident David Buchanan stated that the smell is strong and that, “it burns your eyes”.
