KTAL-TV is reporting that Shreveport residents met with the mayor to protest the noxious odor coming from a long-burning fire at the Harrelson Landfill. Officials do not know how deep the fire is or how hot it is burning, and estimate it will take more than three years to fully close the site. Neighbors have described the odor as a “toxic wasteland,” “like a rotten egg,” and “horrendous”.
