Updating our earlier post, the residents of Florence, NJ have secured a victory against a Tullytown, PA landfill. After lodging nearly 40 complaints with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the landfill operator has been hit with a notice of violation. Centraljersey.com has reported that the Tullytown Landfill is in violation of municipal waste management rules, and that the “location, type, frequency, duration and intensity of the odors detected constitute a public nuisance.” Florence Mayor Wilkie described the situation as “unacceptable by anyone’s standard.”
I am currently representing over 100 people affected by landfill odors in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, and over 100 people affected by landfill odors in McClellandtown, Pennsylvania. I am not currently representing anyone in New Jersey.
