First Tee of Greater St. Louis: Building Game Changers

When R.J. McCoy first picked up a golf club at just seven years old, he had no idea the sport would one day shape his future. Now a senior at St. Mary’s South Side Catholic High School, McCoy’s journey has come full circle: he’s preparing to coach with First Tee, the nonprofit that first introduced him to the game. More than golf, First Tee teaches kids valuable life skills like perseverance, sportsmanship, and confidence through the sport. In the St. Louis area alone, the organization reaches tens of thousands of students each year through its school and outdoor programs, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to participation. For McCoy, those lessons have inspired not only his coaching ambitions but also his own golf apparel brand, RJ Golf Legacy, now growing on Instagram.
